Lincoln Lawyer Cast: It’s a tangled web in the world of Michael Connelly legal dramas, and Mickey Haller, aka the Lincoln lawyer, is back on July 5. Initially introduced in Connelly’s 2005 novel The Lincoln Lawyer as the younger half-brother to Harry Bosch, the author’s most famous character. While Matthew McConaughey played Mickey in the 2011 movie, the series explores a different side of the character — one that is more closely tied to his Latinx roots from the original novel. In this film, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo plays the Los Angeles lawyer who practices from the back of his Lincoln.

The titular hero goes by the name of Mickey, and his chosen mode of transport is a Lincoln SUV rather than a traditional office. When he’s thrown into the deep end after the untimely death of another lawyer, Jerry Vincent, who’s bequeathed to him his entire case load and practice, he must return to work after a break where drugs played an unfortunately major part. Raised in LA with some time spent in Mexico with his mother, he has two ex-wives that are still on good terms with him and even provides him with a driver. And we see at the end of Season 1 that as a result of winning a big case Mickey finds himself declared ‘the hottest defense lawyer in LA’ when we revisit him in Season 2.
The Mexican actor has appeared in big-budget blockbusters (The Magnificent Seven, Murder on the Orient Express, 6 Underground) as well as TV shows (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, Goliath).

Maggie, Deputy District Attorney and Mickey’s first ex-wife and mother of their daughter Haley, holds fast to her faith in the justice system – a belief which is sometimes at odds with her former husband’s perception of power dynamics. Despite a divorce caused by Mickey’s devotion to his work over his family, there is still an attraction between them. As Season 1 draws to a close, it could be that this lingering spark will once again cause tension. Though Maggie may roll her eyes at the recognition of his achievements when he is put on the cover of Los Angeles Lawyer magazine, she did marry him after all.
With a strong background in television, the Scream queen has been on the family soap Party of Five since she was a teenager. Along with the horror franchise, she also starred in ’90s classics like The Craft and Wild Things. On the fourth and fifth seasons of House of Cards, she played LeAnn Harvey, a political consultant.

Mickey and his second ex-wife, Lorna, remain good friends. She works at his law firm as office manager and paralegal, utilizing the legal knowledge she acquired while studying for her JD. Their relationship status hasn’t changed over the years despite Lorna being involved with Cisco. As Season 2 progresses, they both juggle between their professional engagements and wedding preparations that Cisco and Lorna are planning. On this note, Lorna remarked sarcastically in the trailer about having to be carried down the aisle due to all-night work sprees.
As a guest star on How I Met Your Mother and Divorce, Newton is best known for her role as fashionista receptionist Amanda on Ugly Betty.

Mickey’s client, Izzy, is a former professional dancer recovering from a painkiller addiction. When she can’t afford his services, he offers her a job as his personal driver instead. In Season 2, Mickey’s newfound fame reminds Izzy to not let it get to his head. She’s learned the hard way. Izzy may practice law from the back seat of a Lincoln, but Izzy is driving.
She has been acting since she was a child, appearing in series such as My Wife and Kids, Jericho, and The Quad.

DaCosta has shown time and again that she knows what it takes to be successful. Her impressive career began on America’s Next Top Model, where she was the runner-up of the third season. Mickey’s most significant client in Season 1 is a wealthy, calculating CEO of a video game firm who is suspected of murdering his spouse and her devotee, a yoga practitioner. Although the Lincoln Lawyer persuades the jury to return a verdict of “not guilty” for Trevor, it transpires that he did indeed murder his wife – because she was behind the company’s actual success and had intended to come forward with the truth. Justice was served though as it was revealed that Trevor was killed by none other than his wife’s devotee’s other lover at a press conference. Although an unsettling conclusion for Trevor, Mickey has gained a whole new slew of customers and media opportunities to handle in Season 2 as a result of his successful handling of this high-profile case.
Gorham appeared alongside Newton on Ugly Betty and has appeared in nearly every genre on television (Popular, Felicity, Covert Affairs, 2 Broke Girls, Harper’s Island).
